CHILD CARE
Childcare Wanted!
UU families need everyone’s support and encouragement to attend conferences and other opportunities in their district or region. A lack of safe and affordable childcare is often cited as a reason for not attending these events. Your congregation can help parents attend the Oct 17-18 regional conference in Worcester, MA by providing or facilitating childcare for free or at a reduced rate while parents attend this conference. Things to think about:

  • recruit experienced childcare providers from within your congregation
  • if several parents want to attend, plan a day of fun activities for a small playgroup supervised by other trusted parents
  • collaborate with a neighboring congregation to reduce childcare expenses
  • establish a congregational babysitting co-op just for these events (“#1 parents provide childcare for our annual meeting, #2 parents do the same for a regional meeting, #3 parents for a district workshop, etc.)
  • talk with youth looking for a service experience for their Coming of Age requirements
  • parents who attend a conference could be expected to give a report to the Board or congregation in exchange for free childcare

VENDOR SPACE
In addition to the learning and worship the Conference offers an opportunity for UU-related organizations and other vendors to meet conference attendees to tell them about their programs and products. UUA offices, regional UU organizations and private vendors are invited to be a part of the Conference with a display booth.

The exhibit area will accommodate about 30 spaces which will be reserved on a “first come…” basis. Each exhibit space will have an 8 foot skirted table and chair. Access to electricity is limited, so exhibitors should not plan on having electric power to their displays. Exhibit space registration fee is $50.

The deadline for reserving a space is Wednesday, October 15. Exhibit space reservation can be made by contacting the Registrar at Ballou Channing District Office, ballouchanning@verizon.net or 508-559-6650 and sending a check made out to Ballou Channing District with “Regional Conference” in the memo line to 325 West Elm Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
